Charlyne Brumskine becomes first Liberian woman on ECOWAS Court
Cllr. Charlyne M. Brumskine has begun her term as a judge at the ECOWAS Community Court of Justice, becoming the first Liberian woman to serve on the regional court. Her appointment covers the 2026–2030 term and places her among five selected judges.
Brumskine follows a lineage of Liberian jurists at the court, including Justice Micah Wilkins Wright, who served from 2014 to 2017 and became Vice President, and his successor, Justice Yussif D. Kaba, who also held the role of Vice President. Her appointment is noted as a significant milestone for female representation within the Liberian legal profession and regional West African institutions.
