Charred body found near Biobío River in Negrete

Authorities in Negrete are investigating the discovery of a charred body found on the banks of the Biobío River. The discovery was made around 7:30 PM on Friday following a citizen alert.

Carabineros arrived at the scene to isolate the area, noting that the body showed significant damage due to fire. Due to the condition of the remains, officials have not yet been able to confirm the identity or sex of the deceased. However, investigators are looking into whether the body is linked to a missing person report filed a few days ago in the Negrete precinct.

The Public Ministry has ordered the Criminal Investigation Brigade (Bicrim) of the PDI to conduct forensic work at the site to determine if third-party intervention occurred. The body will be transferred to the Legal Medical Service in Los Ángeles for scientific analysis to establish identity and the exact circumstances of death.
