Charros de Jalisco catchers compete for roster spots

Charros de Jalisco is currently holding preseason training to determine its catcher roster for the 2026-27 Liga Mexicana del Pacífico season. Seven players are competing for spots: four experienced veterans and three young prospects.

The group includes Francisco Córdoba, Carlos Mendivil, Omar Rentería, Isaac Arias, Jesús Córdova, Gael Guzmán, and Alan Espinoza, who is participating as a league invitee. Bench coach and catcher coach Noé Muñoz noted that while the players possess high skill levels, their differences will become apparent through game execution.

Muñoz highlighted the return of Carlos Mendivil and Omar Rentería, the presence of Francisco Córdoba, and the potential of younger players like Gael Guzmán, Isaac Arias, and Jesús Córdova. The team has historically found success with league-invited catchers during their recent championship campaigns.
