Chartered Institute of Bankers of Nigeria inducts 2,178 professionals

The Chartered Institute of Bankers of Nigeria (CIBN) has inducted 2,178 new chartered banking professionals during its 2026 Stream II induction and prize awards ceremony in Lagos. The new inductees entered the profession through various pathways, including the Standard Chartered Banker (ACIB) route, the Microfinance Certified Bankers route, and the Lagos Business School/Chartered Banker route.

Dr. Dele Alabi, President and Chairman of Council of CIBN, emphasized the importance of ethics, continuous learning, and innovation as the industry faces technological, economic, and geopolitical disruptions. He announced that the institute plans to review its professional syllabus to better align training with the evolving financial services landscape under its ‘IMPACT’ vision.

Guest speaker Olusegun Alebiosu, Managing Director of First Bank, noted that future-ready bankers must navigate challenges such as inflation and cyber threats by combining leadership with ethical conduct. The CIBN maintains investigating panels and disciplinary tribunals to address any breaches of professional standards.
