Frequent flooding of Chartiers Creek in Canton Township, Washington County, is prompting local businesses to consider relocating. RPM Industries, a manufacturing company, reported that repeated flooding has disrupted production and forced staff to spend significant time moving materials to higher ground to prevent damage.

Company leadership, including COO John Zwicker, expressed frustration over the lack of response to appeals for flood mitigation from local, state, and federal authorities. Nearby businesses, such as United Rentals, have also experienced significant flood damage.

Concerns have been raised regarding debris and obstructions within the creek, such as fencing and large items, which could potentially clog bridge overpasses like the Henderson Avenue overpass and exacerbate flooding. While dredging may be restricted by environmental regulations, business representatives are calling for the removal of garbage and debris from the banks to prevent further damage and safety risks.
