Chase Sowell records career highs despite Penn State loss to Michigan
Penn State wide receiver Chase Sowell recorded career-best statistics during a 21-18 loss to Michigan on Saturday. Sowell finished the game with 11 receptions for 151 yards and a touchdown, accounting for a significant portion of the Nittany Lions' offensive production.
Earlier in the game, Sowell overcame an injury scare in the second quarter involving his lower right leg. After being evaluated in an injury tent, he returned to the field to serve as a primary target for quarterback Rocco Becht. Sowell caught his first eight targets of the game before recording an incomplete pass in the third quarter.
Despite the individual performance, the loss drops Penn State to a 3-4 overall record and 0-4 in Big Ten play. Sowell expressed frustration with the outcome, stating, “It's very frustrating, regardless of what I did. I mean, I always feel like I could do more to help the team.”
