Chase Stokes discusses injuries and mental health struggles
Actor Chase Stokes has opened up about the physical and mental health challenges he faced while filming the Netflix series ‘Outer Banks’. In an interview with Men’s Health, Stokes revealed that he sustained multiple injuries during production, including three concussions and a dislocated shoulder. He noted that the head injuries resulted in frightening episodes of short-term memory loss, where he would struggle to recall dialogue he had studied the previous evening.
To manage these injuries and prioritize his health, Stokes has worked to reduce his involvement in action sequences and has utilized transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS) to support brain neuroplasticity.
Additionally, Stokes discussed his long-term struggle with body dysmorphia. He explained that intense internet scrutiny regarding his physical appearance has significantly impacted his mental health. He noted that the end of his role as John B. Routledge provides a sense of relief, allowing him to move away from constant aesthetic comparisons and focus on new professional projects with the support of a personal wellness team.
