Chase updates credit card benefits and fees

Chase is implementing changes to its credit card lineup, affecting both legacy and current travel reward products.

Reports indicate that the long-standing IHG Select card, which has maintained a $49 annual fee since its discontinuation to new applicants in 2018, is set for a refresh. Expected changes include an increase in the annual fee to $99 and an adjustment to the free night certificate, which may be worth up to 50,000 points by 2027.

Additionally, the Chase Sapphire Preferred card has undergone a refresh. While the annual fee remains at $95, Chase has doubled the annual Chase Travel hotel credit from $50 to $100. The card has also added 3x earning on gas, EV charging, and vacation homes, along with a credit of up to $120 toward Global Entry, TSA PreCheck, or NEXUS every four years. However, some historical advantages, such as the value of fixed Chase Travel redemptions and Hyatt transfer ratios, have seen shifts in utility.
