Chasse Marina Fire Forces Closure of Route 1 Segment in Damariscotta, Maine

A blaze erupted at the Chasse Marina Company in Damariscotta, Maine, prompting officials to shut down a portion of Route 1 while firefighters tackled the flames. The Lincoln County Emergency Management Agency urged drivers to avoid the area.

Witnesses said the company's vice president heard several small explosions, ordered an evacuation, and was helped out after repeatedly trying to re‑enter the building. One person was hospitalized, and by around noon most of the fire was extinguished, though crews continued searching the structure. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
