Chateau Bevvy Winery to open in Bessemer, Alabama

Chateau Bevvy Winery is set to open in downtown Bessemer on September 26, marking the first and only Black-owned urban winery in Jefferson County. The business occupies a historic building dating back to 1910 that had previously been vacant.

Owner La Fran Marks developed an interest in winemaking during his travels with the Army. The winery features a renovated interior with exposed brick, vintage furniture, and a custom wooden table crafted from original building materials found during the restoration process. The facility includes dedicated spaces for winemaking vats and bottle storage.
