ChatGPT and Microsoft AI Tools Expand Photo Editing Capabilities

OpenAI's ChatGPT now supports image uploads that allow users to add hand‑drawn doodle shadows, convert photos to anime or illustration styles, and perform OCR or translation on picture content. The platform can also generate captions and answer questions about the image.

Microsoft has released the open‑source “Bringing Old Photos Back to Life” tool, which uses AI to detect scratches, restore global tones, and enhance faces in aged pictures. It is available on GitHub, can run via Google Colab, Docker or a local GUI, and is aimed at both hobbyists and developers.

Aiarty Image Enhancer, a commercial desktop application for Windows and macOS, offers AI‑driven upscaling up to 32 K resolution, noise reduction, blur removal and dedicated face‑restoration features. The software processes images locally and is priced at US$79 for a lifetime licence.
