Chatsworth helicopter crash kills three during news coverage FAST-MOVING

A news helicopter operated by NBC Los Angeles (NewsChopper 4) crashed in the Chatsworth neighborhood of Los Angeles on Tuesday evening, killing at least three people. The aircraft went down between two commercial buildings near the intersection of Lurline Avenue and Nordhoff Street while providing aerial coverage of a separate fatal collision involving a Metro bus and an SUV.

The Los Angeles Fire Department (LAFD) reported that three people were killed in the helicopter crash, including one individual who was reportedly a pedestrian on the ground. Two of the deceased have been identified as NBC4 photojournalist Eliana Moreno and pilot George Marciniw. One other person was injured and transported to a local hospital.

The crash triggered a fire that damaged four vehicles and two storage containers. The NTSB and FAA are expected to lead an investigation into the cause of the crash. The initial bus collision, which the helicopter was covering, had already resulted in at least two deaths and six injuries.
