Chaumont economic leaders address demographic decline and recruitment

Economic development leaders in the Chaumont agglomeration are addressing demographic concerns and recruitment difficulties. Johan Gromaire, vice-president in charge of economic development, highlighted the need to attract and retain businesses, employees, and families to prevent the population from falling below 20,000 residents.

Despite a low unemployment rate of 5.5%, local businesses face a mismatch between the available workforce and specific industry needs. Companies like Lisi Aerospace have reported difficulties in recruiting and housing staff, even when hiring from outside the region. To combat these issues, the agglomeration is focusing on enhancing professional training and improving regional attractiveness.
