Chałupki hosts 'Chałupkowe Garcynki' pottery festival

On July 26, 2026, the village of Chałupki in Gmina Morawica held the "Chałupkowe Garcynki" event, featuring pottery‑wheel demonstrations, workshops with master ceramists and a market of hand‑made clay items. Children and teenagers shaped their own vessels under the guidance of experienced potters, describing the experience as both fun and educational.

Michał Poros, head of the Centre of Geoeducation in Kielce, explained that the local clay originates from Jurassic limestone pockets formed in a prehistoric sea about 150 million years ago. The festival’s climax was the opening of a traditional kiln, where vessels were fired and then retrieved by partially dismantling the kiln, which can later be reassembled for further firings.
