Chayanna and Gen Z designer launch Mutelu silk collection
Gen Z designer Sasimonat “Mika” Bunnag, a 17-year-old student from Shrewsbury International School Bangkok, has collaborated with the silk brand Chayanna to launch the ‘Mutelu’ collection. The collection debuted at the SIAM INTERNATIONAL FASHION WEEK Visit KHON KAEN silk festival in Khon Kaen.
The collection interprets Thai spiritual beliefs and ‘Mutelu’ concepts through a modern luxury lens. Rather than using direct religious icons, the designs utilize lines, structures, and details to convey the emotions and stories behind these beliefs. The aim is to promote ‘Power Dressing’ for modern women and make traditional Thai silk a practical choice for everyday wear rather than just for special occasions.
Chayanna owner Chayanna Siriprom noted that Bunnag interned with the brand for three months, contributing to target audience definition, research, and collection direction in a role similar to a Junior Art Director. The collaboration seeks to bridge generational gaps by presenting Thai cultural heritage through a contemporary perspective.
