Chácara do Jockey metro station construction to cause long-term traffic changes

Construction of the new Chácara do Jockey station on São Paulo’s Line 4-Yellow will lead to significant traffic changes and road closures in the Jardim Monte Kemel neighborhood. These interventions, scheduled to begin at 7:00 AM this Saturday, are expected to last for approximately five years as the project moves into the excavation phase.

Key road closures include sections of Rua Osiris Magalhães and Rua Francisco Marson near Avenida Professor Francisco Morato. Additionally, the left-turn conversion from Avenida Professor Francisco Morato to Rua Ministro Heitor Bastos Tigre will be eliminated. Certain streets, including Rua Francisco Marson and Rua Ministro Heitor Bastos Tigre, will transition to two-way traffic for local access only.

The Companhia de Engenharia de Tráfego (CET) will manage traffic diversions through signage and agents. Local authorities and contractors have indicated that while traffic patterns will shift, local commerce, bus lines, and pedestrian access will remain functional throughout the construction period. Demolitions in the area are nearing completion, making way for land clearing and earthworks.
