Che Guevara tributes held in Italy and Argentina
Commemorations for Ernesto Che Guevara have taken place in Italy and Argentina, with organizers using the events to voice support for Cuba and criticize United States policies.
In Collegno, Italy, local authorities and members of the National Association of Friendship Italy-Cuba (Anaic) held a tribute on the 59th anniversary of Guevara’s death. During the event, speakers denounced the impact of policies maintained by the United States administration against the Cuban people. Additionally, the Cuban Ambassador to Italy, Jorge Luis Cepero Aguiar, visited the Susa Valley to honor Dino Pogolotti, an Italian entrepreneur who significantly influenced the urban development of Havana.
In Rosario, Argentina, the Multisectoral of Solidarity with Cuba and Just Causes organized an anti-imperialist rally at the Che Guevara monument. Participants condemned the economic blockade against Cuba, citing rising infant mortality and shortages of food, medicine, and fuel as consequences of the restrictions. Organizers also noted upcoming United Nations votes regarding the resolution to condemn the blockade.
