Cheb to host large railway festival for National Railway Day

The city of Cheb will host a large-scale railway festival this weekend to celebrate the National Day of Railways. Thousands of visitors from across the Czech Republic and neighboring countries are expected to attend the event in the westernmost part of the country.

Under the theme ‘The World of Change’, the program features a wide range of rolling stock, from historical steam and diesel locomotives—including the 1900 series 97.182 steam engine—to modern multi-system electric locomotives used in cross-border transport. The event will run from 9:00 to 17:00 on Saturday and from 9:00 to 14:00 on Sunday.

Family-oriented activities include hand-powered draisine rides, a cinema car, a balloon workshop, and a bouncy castle. For adult enthusiasts, a light show featuring key exhibits will be held on the turntable, though separate tickets are required for this attraction. Due to limited parking, organizers recommend that visitors arrive by train. Admission for adults is 300 Czech crowns (approximately 12.40 euros), with family tickets available at double the standard adult rate.
