Check Point Software Technologies sees investor stake growth and surge in Italian cyber attacks

Camden National Bank increased its holding in Check Point Software Technologies by 21.4%, bringing its ownership to 68,992 shares (0.07% of the company, worth about $9.9 million). Other institutional investors, including Nordea Investment Management, Phoenix Financial, Massachusetts Financial Services, Assenagon Asset Management and Goldman Sachs, also raised their positions during the quarter. Check Point reported first‑quarter earnings of $2.50 per share, beating estimates, with revenue of $668.4 million, a net margin of 38.37% and a 4.8% year‑over‑year revenue increase. The firm set full‑year 2026 earnings guidance of $10.05‑$10.85 per share.

Check Point Research’s Global Threat Intelligence Report for June 2026 showed Italian organisations faced an average of 2,602 cyber‑attack attempts per week, an 11.5% rise from the previous month and 7% above June 2025. This rate is 14.6% higher than the global average of 2,270 weekly attacks. The education sector was most targeted (4,816 attacks per week, +16% YoY), followed by the public sector (2,836) and telecommunications (2,835). Latin America recorded the highest regional average at 3,501 weekly attacks. The report also highlighted ongoing GenAI risks, with 1 in 26 AI‑generated requests posing a high risk of data leakage (3.9% overall) and 85% of organisations using GenAI encountering high‑risk prompts.
