CheckForPet survey ranks well-known pet food brands poorly

A survey conducted by the German platform ‘CheckForPet’ titled ‘Best Rated Pet Food 2026’ reveals that several well-known premium pet food brands received low ratings from pet owners. Based on 108,088 votes, the ranking evaluated over 400 brands based on overall satisfaction, price-performance ratio, and ingredient composition.

In the wet cat food category, prominent brands such as ‘Sheba’, ‘Whiskas’, and ‘Felix’ ranked near the bottom, occupying places 45, 46, and 49 out of 51 listed brands, respectively. For dry dog food, ‘Royal Canin’ placed 69th out of 78, receiving the lowest possible score for ingredient composition.

Top-rated brands in the survey included ‘Platinum’, ‘Terra Canis’, ‘Miamor’, and ‘Wolfsblut’, which achieved scores between 4.7 and 4.9 stars. Additionally, the ‘Dein Bestes’ store brand from dm was identified as a leader in the price-performance category for cat food.
