Chedraui opens new store in Oaxaca with 157 million peso investment

A new Chedraui retail store has opened in the Santa Rosa Panzacola agency of Oaxaca City, representing a private investment of over 157.6 million pesos. The establishment is expected to generate 267 direct jobs and 178 indirect jobs, providing an economic boost to the region.

Oaxaca Governor Salomón Jara and local economic officials noted that the investment demonstrates the state's openness to business. Grupo Chedraui representatives highlighted that the company already carries over 100 local Oaxacan products in its national stores, some of which may eventually be exported to the chain's locations in the United States.

Despite the economic benefits, local residents have raised concerns regarding the store's surroundings. Neighbors reported the presence of transport unions attempting to claim space for mototaxi services and an increase in informal street vendors near the entrance. Residents have called for increased authority supervision to prevent mobility issues and potential conflicts in the area.
