Cheez-It faces backlash from Christian group over advertisement

The snack brand Cheez-It is facing backlash from the conservative Christian advocacy group One Million Moms over a commercial titled “The Boyfriend.” The advertisement, part of the “Cravings Can Happen Anywhere” campaign, depicts a young woman introducing her boyfriend to her father. During the encounter, the boyfriend becomes distracted by a Cheez-It floating near the father’s mouth, leading to a visual joke where it momentarily appears as though the two men are about to kiss before the boyfriend bites the cracker.

One Million Moms, an organization created by the American Family Association, has launched a petition demanding the removal of the ad. The group describes the commercial as containing “offensive sexual innuendos” and an “extremely sensual message between two males.” Director Monica Cole criticized the brand for a lack of “corporate responsibility,” labeling the content as “vulgar” and “extremely irresponsible” for families.
