Chef Ali Güngörmüş celebrates 50th birthday
German celebrity chef Ali Güngörmüş is celebrating his 50th birthday on October 15, 2026. Born in the village of Pageou in eastern Turkey as one of seven children, Güngörmüş moved to Germany in 1986 at the age of ten.
His culinary career began after he secured an apprenticeship at ‘Wirtshaus am Rosengarten’ following unsuccessful attempts to find placement at age 14. In 2006, he became the first German chef of Turkish descent to receive a Michelin star.
Beyond the kitchen, Güngörmüş is a well-known figure in German television. In 2023, he participated in the RTL dance competition ‘Let’s Dance’ with partner Christina Luft, finishing in eighth place.
