Chef Anne Burrell Dies at Home in Brooklyn

Chef Anne Burrell, 55, was found unresponsive on the shower floor of her Brooklyn home on the morning of June 17. Her husband, Stuart Claxton, discovered her around 7:50 a.m., after having last seen her alive at about 1 a.m. the previous night. Claxton called 911 and reported that Burrell had gone into cardiac arrest; the NYPD later confirmed she was dead on arrival.

Burrell, known for hosting Food Network’s “Worst Cooks in America,” was surrounded by a large quantity of pills when found. Authorities are investigating and an autopsy and toxicology report are pending. A family statement described her as a beloved wife, sister, daughter, step‑mother and friend, noting her lasting impact on viewers worldwide. She is survived by her husband, whom she married in October 2021.
