Bruno Verjus and Frank Beltri announce closure of acclaimed restaurants

Prominent chefs Bruno Verjus and Frank Beltri have announced the closure of their acclaimed fine-dining establishments, sparking discussions regarding the future of high-end gastronomy.

Bruno Verjus, whose Paris-based restaurant A Table holds two Michelin stars and was ranked among the top 10 restaurants globally, will close his doors on December 22. Verjus stated that “fine dining is dead,” expressing discomfort with the exclusionary nature of traditional high gastronomy. He intends to pivot toward a new concept called “Fast Lane,” which focuses on high-quality, simpler, and more accessible dining.

Simultaneously, Frank Beltri announced that his Michelin-starred restaurant Slow & Low in Barcelona will cease its gastronomic project on October 17. While the fine-dining component is ending, the team will continue to operate their informal establishment, Bar Canyí. These closures occur amid economic pressures in the restaurant sector, including rising operational costs and changing consumer habits.
