Chef Gábor Krausz deported from US after visa violation

Hungarian chef Gábor Krausz faced deportation and a 15-year ban from the United States following an incident at Los Angeles International Airport. According to details shared in his book, ‘Családom és egyéb receptfajták’, Krausz intended to build a professional career in the U.S. but arrived without the appropriate work visa.

During a security check, authorities discovered professional chef knives in his luggage and reviewed his mobile phone, which confirmed his intent to work rather than visit as a tourist. Krausz was detained for 24 hours and subsequently escorted to a flight back to Hungary by armed guards while wearing leg irons. He has since continued his culinary career in Hungary, notably appearing as a judge on the television show ‘Séfek Séfe’.
