Chef Jean Imbert held in police custody on domestic violence charges

Jean Imbert, a 45‑year‑old French chef and former winner of the TV competition Top Chef, was placed in police custody in Paris on Monday morning. He is suspected of domestic violence and is the subject of three complaints filed by former partners, including actress Lila Salet and former Miss France Alexandra Rosenfeld. The custody was extended on Tuesday as the investigation continues.

The Paris prosecutor’s office opened a case for "violences by a spouse or partner" and assigned it to the police of the 16th arrondissement. Imbert’s lawyers say he has answered all investigators’ questions and presented numerous documents to support his version of events, maintaining his innocence. The chef, who has worked at the Plaza Athénée and the Martinez in Cannes and earned a Michelin star, has been removed from his managerial role at the Plaza Athénée while the inquiry proceeds. No charges have been filed yet.

The case has drawn significant media attention in France, affecting Imbert’s public profile and professional engagements, but the legal process remains ongoing.
