Chef Jean Imbert named assisted witness in domestic violence investigation

French chef Jean Imbert has been placed under the status of 'témoin assisté' (assisted witness) following a 48-hour police custody period. The judicial investigation involves allegations of domestic violence, including physical and psychological abuse, brought forward by several former partners, including Alexandra Rosenfeld and Lila Salet.

Imbert has contested all allegations and previously announced he would step back from his establishments to allow the judicial process to proceed. While he was not formally charged (mis en examen), the current legal status grants him specific rights, such as access to the case file and legal assistance.

The controversy has raised questions regarding his professional partnerships. Notably, his signature restaurant at Disneyland Paris, 'La Forêt Secrète,' continues to operate and maintains his name in its branding as of August 2026. This follows his removal from managerial and executive roles at the Plaza Athénée in 2026, where the restaurant has since changed its name and direction.
