Chef Jean Imbert placed under assisted‑witness status in Paris

French celebrity chef Jean Imbert, known from the TV show Top Chef, was released from police custody after about 36 hours and placed under the status of “assisted witness” by the Paris judicial tribunal. The decision follows an information‑judicial opened by the Paris prosecutor’s office concerning alleged domestic‑violence offences against former partners between 2012 and 2024. Six ex‑companions were interviewed; two complaints – from Lila Salet and Alexandra Rosenfeld – are being pursued, while the other allegations are time‑barred. At this stage Imbert has not been formally charged and remains free pending further investigation.

The assisted‑witness status grants him legal rights such as counsel assistance and access to the case file, but does not constitute a conviction. The investigation will continue to determine whether formal indictment is warranted.
