Jernard Wells Cornbread & Butter Savor the City Daytime Emmy nomination Black culinary culture

Chef Jernard Wells is celebrating several professional milestones, including the grand opening of his new restaurant, Cornbread & Butter. The establishment aims to offer upscale American cuisine by blending Southern flavors with techniques gathered throughout his career.

In addition to the restaurant launch, Wells marked the wrap of his project ‘New Soul Kitchen’ and received a 2026 Daytime Emmy nomination for his television series ‘Savor the City’. The series focuses on highlighting Black culinary culture across the United States. The celebrations were held alongside partners TV One, CLEO TV, and Powerhouse Productions.
