Chef Jo Grootaers to host Winemakers Lunch at Alter

Chef Jo Grootaers will host a Winemakers Lunch at Alter on October 18, featuring a unique culinary approach where the wine selection precedes the menu. The event focuses on the wines of Gilles Lafouge, a winemaker from Auxey-Duresses, Burgundy.

Grootaers and sommelier Wouter traveled to Burgundy to select specific wines from Lafouge, who holds plots in areas including Meursault and Pommard. The five-course menu is designed to complement these selections and emphasizes seasonal ingredients, marking the start of the autumn game season. The menu includes sea bass, Irish Mor oysters, scallops with artichoke, sole with porcini mushrooms, and pheasant ‘Fine Champagne’ with endive and parsnip, concluding with Beaufort cheese, fig, and brioche.
