Chef Mariusz Komenda dies at 44 after brain tumor diagnosis

Mariusz Komenda, a former semifinalist on MasterChef Poland, has died at the age of 44. His death was confirmed by the network TVN and the show’s creators, who released statements describing him as a man full of passion and energy.

Komenda had been battling a glioma, a type of malignant brain tumor, since his diagnosis earlier this year. He had used social media to share his struggle and had even organized a fundraising campaign to assist with his medical costs.

Known for his appearance in the eighth season of the competition in 2019, Komenda most recently opened the restaurant Father and Son, which featured a fusion of Polish and Mexican cuisine.
