Chef Silvena Rou to advise Bulgarian Agriculture Commission
Chef Silvena Rou has accepted an invitation from Yavor Gechev, Chairman of the Commission on Agriculture, Forests and Food in the National Assembly, to serve as a consultant. Rou, who describes herself as an international specialist in longevity nutrition, traveled from Dubai to take on this role.
Her primary objective is to establish quality certification and labeling for high-end Bulgarian food products, including cheese, meat, sausages, and wine. She aims to create documentation that distinguishes top-tier products based on quality rather than just safety or recipe authenticity. Rou intends to focus on approximately ten traditional Bulgarian foods, such as lyutenitsa, lukanka, and various cheeses, to ensure consumers can identify the healthiest and highest-quality options.
Beyond product certification, Rou expressed a desire to see Bulgarian chefs achieve Michelin stars by leveraging the country’s rich culinary history. She emphasized the importance of promoting domestic produce over imports to support the health and longevity of the population.
