Chef Son Jong-won promoted to executive at Shinsegae Group

Star chef Son Jong-won has been promoted to a professional executive position within Shinsegae Group, according to the company's 2027 regular executive appointments announced on the 23rd. Son is the sole individual selected as a professional executive in this round, a role designated for those recognized for specialized expertise and performance rather than general management.

Son currently serves as the head chef for Chosun Hotels & Resorts. He has led two Michelin-starred restaurants: the French restaurant ‘L'Amant Secret’ at Les Escapades Hotel and the Korean dining restaurant ‘Eatanic Garden’ at Josun Palace Seoul Gangnam. His culinary achievements include being the first South Korean chef to win the ‘Rookie of the Year’ award from the French culinary guide ‘La Liste 2024’.

Beyond his culinary career, Son gained significant public recognition through appearances on Netflix’s ‘Culinary Class Wars’ and JTBC’s ‘Please Take Care of My Refrigerator’. His commercial collaborations, such as meal kits with Emart24, have also seen rapid sales success.
