Chega party launches district leadership bids in Viana do Castelo and Setúbal
Eduardo Teixeira, a member of Portugal's Assembly and Viana do Castelo councilor, officially filed his candidacy for president of the Chega District Political Commission in Viana do Castelo. He presented a list of militants from all ten municipalities, emphasizing a strategy of proximity, growth and political affirmation for the party, and outlined plans for a District Strategic Council covering health, transport, agriculture, environment, economy and other issues.
In Setúbal, Montijo coordinator Nuno Valente announced his run for the district leadership, attacking rival Nuno Gabriel and accusing him of personalist politics. Valente highlighted the party's performance in the 2024 and 2025 legislative elections, stressing the need for better organization and broader campaign involvement ahead of the upcoming district elections.
