Chega questions government over GNR station renovation defects

The Chega parliamentary group has formally questioned the Portuguese government regarding alleged deficiencies in renovation works at the GNR (Guarda Nacional Republicana) station in Alter do Chão, Portalegre district. The project involved an investment exceeding 200,000 euros, with a base price of approximately 203,252 euros.

In a formal inquiry directed to Minister of Internal Administration Luís Neves, deputies raised concerns about the quality of the work, which included replacing the fibrocement roof, exterior painting, and installing new window frames. Specifically, the group questioned whether the ministry is aware of issues such as poorly dimensioned windows and defects in the window frame finishes.

Chega is seeking clarification on the contractual object, the actual amount paid to the contractor, and the details of the inspection process. They are also inquiring whether any guarantees, penalties, or contractual mechanisms were triggered to address the identified non-conformities.
