Chega/Açores raises concerns over remote work and housing
The Chega/Açores political group has submitted formal requests to the Azores Regional Legislative Assembly to address two primary concerns: remote work in public administration and housing affordability.
Regarding public administration, deputies are seeking data on the scale of remote work within regional services. They are calling for clearer rules and mechanisms to monitor productivity, attendance, and availability. The party noted that while remote work became widespread during the pandemic, it has remained a permanent fixture, leading to complaints from citizens and businesses regarding delays in processes and difficulties contacting technical staff.
On the issue of housing, Chega/Açores is questioning the Regional Government about measures to support working families who do not qualify for social housing but cannot afford current market prices for buying or renting. The group is requesting information on programs for first-time homebuyers, incentives for controlled-cost construction, the recovery of vacant properties, and the potential use of regional land for affordable housing projects.
