Chelmsford City defeats Canvey Island 1-0 in FA Cup

Chelmsford City secured a place in the next round of the FA Cup following a 1-0 victory against Canvey Island. Jack Barham scored the decisive goal in the 71st minute to prevent an upset by the hosts.

Despite the narrow scoreline, Canvey Island provided a strong challenge. Chelmsford manager Mark Cooper praised Canvey goalkeeper David Hughes, describing his performance as “incredible” after a series of saves and defensive efforts kept the score close. Chelmsford had multiple opportunities throughout the match, including efforts that struck the woodwork, but were ultimately held at bay by Hughes and the Canvey defense.
