Chelsea 3 vessel towed to Burgas after drone attack

The transport vessel Chelsea 3, which was struck by drones in the Black Sea, has been successfully towed to the port of Burgas following a complex 24-hour rescue operation conducted under difficult weather conditions. Initial inspections by maritime authorities, divers, and military intelligence have revealed three major breaches in the hull: one in the front left section, one in the middle of the right side, and a third in the stern that left the ship without steering control.

Investigators are currently examining the damage sites for drone debris and chemical traces to determine the origin of the attack. While officials noted that the drones were not Bulgarian, there is currently no definitive evidence regarding the perpetrator. Transport Minister Georgi Peev mentioned hypotheses regarding the attack's origin, while experts noted the difficulty of identifying drone sources with current technology.

Despite the significant structural damage, the vessel remains stable, and there is no immediate threat of sinking or environmental pollution. The ship was empty at the time of the inspection, having previously been transporting grain. An inter-institutional task force has been established to coordinate the ongoing investigation and technical expertise.
