Chelsea begins talks to overhaul Cobham training ground
Chelsea Football Club has entered exploratory, non-binding discussions with Elmbridge Borough Council regarding a potential large-scale redevelopment of its Cobham training facility. The club has also begun engaging with external stakeholders as part of the pre-application process.
While the facility has remained high-quality since its opening in 2004, the club aims to upgrade its infrastructure to meet modern, world-class standards. The proposed improvements are intended to benefit the men’s, women’s, and academy teams. Former academy director Neil Bath, who departed in July 2024, previously helped secure a plot of land opposite the current training ground entrance, which may allow for expansion beyond the existing 40-acre site.
These talks are currently informal and do not constitute a formal planning application or approval for construction. The club has already implemented some cosmetic and security improvements, including new fencing, but the specific scope, design, and timeline for a major overhaul have not yet been confirmed.
