Chelsea close to signing Spanish left-back Pep Chavarria
Chelsea FC have agreed personal terms with 28‑year‑old Spanish left‑back Pep Chavarria and are finalising a transfer from Rayo Vallecano. The deal is reported to be worth around €19 million, with additional performance‑related bonuses, and a medical is pending. Chavarria, who has made 125 appearances for Rayo and is under contract until 2030 with a €50 million release clause, will replace Marc Cucurella after the latter’s €60 million move to Real Madrid. He featured in Rayo’s run to the Conference League final, playing the full 90 minutes in the 1‑0 loss to Crystal Palace. The signing is part of manager Xabi Alonso’s squad rebuild, which has already seen arrivals such as Marco Palestra, Morgan Rogers, Danny Welbeck and Jordan Henderson.
