Chelsea Green suffers injury following WWE Interim Women's Title win

WWE Interim Women’s Champion Chelsea Green has suffered a broken orbital bone following an injury during a SmackDown tag team match. The injury occurred just five days after Green won the interim title in a ladder match at SummerSlam.

Following the injury, SmackDown General Manager Nick Aldis addressed the status of the championship. While Aldis initially considered declaring the title vacant, he ultimately decided to allow Green to retain the championship for 30 days. Green must defend the title after this period or relinquish it permanently.

The use of the interim title has drawn criticism from figures such as Layla, who argued that the designation diminishes Green’s achievement. The interim status was established because the reigning champion, Rhea Ripley, has been sidelined since June due to a knee injury and subsequent surgery.
