Chelsea manager Xabi Alonso outlines new style and targets Jeremie Frimpong
New Chelsea head coach Xabi Alonso is expected to bring a different tactical approach to the club compared with his previous spell at Bayer Leverkusen. At Leverkusen he employed a possession‑based system that evolved into a more transitional style in his final season, and he will have the summer to adapt his ideas to the Blues.
Alonso is also reported to be interested in reuniting with former Leverkusen player Jeremie Frimpong. The 25‑year‑old Dutch right‑back, currently on Liverpool's books, has struggled to meet expectations after his €40 million move but remains valued at around €35 million. Liverpool appear willing to negotiate a transfer if a comparable fee is offered, making Frimpong a potential summer signing for Chelsea.
Both clubs are preparing for the upcoming transfer window as Alonso seeks to shape his squad and implement his preferred playing style.
