Chelsea prepares summer exits as new manager Xabi Alonso reshapes squad

Chelsea have appointed Xabi Alonso as head coach after a season that saw the club miss out on all European competitions. With a large squad and limited fixtures, Alonso and the sporting leadership are set to overhaul the roster ahead of the 2026/27 campaign.

Goalkeeper Filip Jörgensen, who joined from Villarreal in 2024 for around €24‑25 million, has formally requested a transfer, having featured only 12‑13 times last season. Reports indicate four Premier League clubs are interested in signing him.

Chelsea have identified a dozen players as potential departures, including Enzo Fernández (targeted by Real Madrid, with a £120 million price tag), Alejandro Garnacho, Liam Delap, Wesley Fofana, Marc Cucurella, and several others. The combined market value of the listed players exceeds £368 million. New signings such as midfielder Geovany Quenda from Sporting CP and a possible midfield target, Antonio Blanco from Alavés, have also been highlighted.

The club’s transfer strategy aims to generate funds and streamline the squad as it prepares for the upcoming season under Alonso’s leadership.
