Chelsea players discuss team dynamics and upcoming Tottenham derby
Chelsea players João Pedro and Pedro Neto have provided updates on their roles and the team's current form ahead of a London derby against Tottenham. João Pedro, a 24-year-old striker, credited former Fluminense coach Fernando Diniz for his early career development and noted that current manager Xabi Alonso has provided him with significant confidence.
Pedro Neto, who recently committed his long-term future to the club, discussed his transition to a right wing-back role within Alonso’s 3-4-2-1 system. Neto, who scored twice in Chelsea’s recent 2-0 victory over Everton, expressed satisfaction with the club's leadership following a turbulent summer transfer window.
Ahead of the match at Stamford Bridge, Chelsea is expected to field Mike Penders in goal due to Emiliano Martínez’s fractured jaw. The squad faces selection challenges with Reece James unavailable following knee surgery, while the team currently sits fourth in the Premier League with 13 points.
