Tottenham beat Chelsea 2-1 in Sydney pre‑season friendly

Tottenham Hotspur defeated Chelsea 2‑1 in a pre‑season friendly at Sydney's Accor Stadium on 1 August 2026, drawing a sell‑out crowd of over 80,000. Sandro Tonali opened the scoring for Spurs, but Brazilian youngster Estevão equalised four minutes later. Early in the second half Kevin Danso was sent off, leaving Tottenham with ten men. In stoppage time Richarlison tapped in the winner, securing the victory for the London rivals.

Tottenham manager Roberto De Zerbi said he cannot predict Richarlison’s future, noting the striker has entered the final year of his contract and has “sometimes” expressed a desire to leave. The Brazilian, who was Spurs’ top scorer last season with 12 goals, has been linked with Juventus. De Zerbi praised his attitude and goal‑scoring instincts but admitted the club will need to find a replacement if he departs.
