Spanish left‑back Pep Chavarría signs for Chelsea for €21 million

Chelsea Football Club have completed the signing of 28‑year‑old Spanish left‑back Pep Chavarría from Rayo Vallecano. The deal, confirmed by transfer journalist Fabrizio Romano, includes a fixed fee of €19 million with up to €2 million in performance‑related add‑ons, bringing the total value to about €21 million.

Chavarría will travel to London for a medical examination before finalising his contract under manager Xabi Alonso, who is rebuilding the squad after the sale of Marc Cucurella to Real Madrid. The transfer provides Rayo Vallecano with a significant financial boost, enabling future reinvestment in the squad. Chelsea have been active in the summer window, adding several players to support Alonso’s plans.
