Chelsea striker Hasselbaink urges patience for Xabi Alonso

Former Chelsea striker Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink has called for patience regarding manager Xabi Alonso following a difficult start to the Premier League season. Under Alonso, Chelsea has conceded 12 goals in five league matches and has yet to record a clean sheet, most recently suffering a 3-0 defeat to Brentford.

Hasselbaink noted that while pressure is inevitable at a major club, Alonso possesses the capability to manage such scrutiny. He also addressed the impending return of midfielder Moisés Caicedo from a calf injury. While acknowledging that Caicedo’s return will significantly improve the team, Hasselbaink emphasized that defensive stability is a collective responsibility involving the entire unit, including players like Reece James, rather than resting solely on one individual.
