Chelsea teenager Dastan Satpayev scores on pre‑season debut

Seventeen‑year‑old Kazakh striker Dastan Satpayev opened the scoring for Chelsea in the club’s pre‑season friendly against Western Sydney Wanderers, netting six minutes after coming on. The match, part of Xabi Alonso’s first tour as Chelsea manager, ended 6‑4 in favour of the Blues at Sydney’s Accor Stadium.

Satpayev is not yet officially registered; his five‑year contract with an optional extra year does not commence until his 18th birthday on 12 August. He is allowed to play as a trialist after receiving special permission from his former club FC Kairat Almaty. The tour also includes fixtures against Tottenham Hotspur in Australia, Juventus in Hong Kong, AC Milan in Indonesia and Johor Darul Ta'zim in Malaysia.

The forward has already earned eight caps for Kazakhstan and scored once in a World Cup qualifier versus Belgium. His early impact has drawn attention from fans waving the Kazakh flag and from commentators noting he could become the first Kazakh to feature in the Premier League.
