Chelsea title hopes questioned by Hasselbaink after Fulham win

Former Chelsea striker Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink believes the club lacks the necessary quality to win the Premier League title this season, despite a strong start to the 2026/27 campaign. Following a turbulent previous season that saw the team finish tenth, Chelsea has entered a period of renewed optimism under new manager Xabi Alonso.

In their opening match, Chelsea secured a 3-2 victory over Fulham, with attackers Joao Pedro, Morgan Rogers, and Cole Palmer all scoring. However, Hasselbaink noted that defensive vulnerabilities remain a significant concern. He specifically highlighted goalkeeper Robert Sanchez, who was largely blamed for Fulham's two goals, stating that the team must improve their ability to keep clean sheets to have a genuine chance at success.

While Hasselbaink doubts their title prospects, he suggests Chelsea may still be able to finish the season ahead of major competitors such as Manchester United, Manchester City, and Liverpool, particularly as they are not participating in European competitions.
